Next weekend I am headed to St. George to attend Jill Olsen's Fall Stampin' get together. It should be a fun time filled with lots of ideas and techniques. I've talked my mom into attending as well and I am excited for a girls weekend.
I've been getting some SWAPS together for the event. Below is one of my swaps. This card is perfect for fall and features a fun and simple technique on the pumpkins. I'm going to call it emboss & color - if you are aware of an official or better name please let me know. Here's how I did it.
1. Stamp your image in versa mark. I stamped the tall pumpkin from Fall Fest.
2. Cover image in white embossing powder and heat emboss. I added a few tiny flecks of gold embossing powered to the white for a little bit of shimmer.
3. Color in the embossed areas using Blendabilities markers. I used shades of Pumpkin Pie for the Pumpkin image and Old Olive for the stem. The most fabulous part ... the marker does not wipe off. It's permanent. It kind of gives a watercolor look to the embossing and it visually adds more dimension than a flat color embossing powder. It is a bit time consuming for a swap card but I like the overall look.
