Hello friends! I’m excited to share another month of pretty projects, this time using the Ranunculus Romance bundle. I took a romantic / shabby chic approach to creating these projects. This box and card are fun to look back on. I had forgotten. The projects have lots of little details, layers and I adore the colors: Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Very Vanilla, Misty Moonlight and Granny Apple Green.
Here are a few closer looks at some of the fun details on this HELLO card. This card is full of layers, textures and techniques. I’ve used watercolor paper to create the distressed background which includes painting, spritzing, daubbing, embossing paste and stamping. This is a stretch for me as I am usually more of a clean and simple stamper / cardmaker. It is nice to branch out every once in a while a create an over the top project.
I used the Petal Pink ink refill to add color into a water filled Stampin’ Spritzer. I also used this ink color to paint a light wash onto the fluid 100 watercolor paper. I flicked Crumb Cake ink onto the background using a Stampin’ Write marker. Once dry, I stamped the ‘written page’ image in Soft Suede. Then I added embossing paste to the top using a decorative mask and palette knife.
Stilling wanting more …. Lol. I added little touch texture and that mimics the look of corrugated cardboard. Here’s how:
You’ll need the Simply Scored Scoring tool and Kraft paper. On this card I scored the Kraft paper every 1/4". I flipped the paper over, shifted by 1/8" and repeated the same step on the back of the paper.
Afterward, I ripped the paper at an angle to create that torn edge look.
This little companion gift box is a labor or love. I’ve used the sweet conversations box and wrapped with my corrugated cardboard paper. See that hint of Misty Moonlight striped paper? That is taken from the Heart and Home Memories and More cards. It’s nice to have that little pop of blue. I built a 3D paper flower and added two stamped tags.
This 3D flower is not hard to create however it does take a little time. Here’s how I did it.
I cut 10-12 outline flower shapes using the die. The bottom four layers are in Calypso Coral and the rest are Petal pink. The flower center is Very Vanilla.
Each flower layer is crinkled/crushed and curled inward using a bone folder. I used water mist to help soften the paper.
I used paper snips to cut petal breaks for some of the interior flowers and curled those petals inward.
I used a sponger dauber and white ink to lighten color and add visual dimension to the the petal layers.
The interior closed flower bud is a circle that also has petal breaks cut into it. The small Granny Apple Green center is a long strip that has been rolled into a spiral.
Each layer is attached with adhesive & glue. Note: the glue gun is your friend!
